Linux - groupdel

Delete a group from Linux machine:

The groupdel command is used for deleting a group from Linux machine. We need to have root level privileges for performing this activity.

#groupdel

Reasons for deleting a group:

  • Aligning to organization requirements, new groups might have been created by existing users. Then old groups should be deleted.
  • During house keeping activities, we might have to remove dormant users & groups.
